Subject re: Bantam, stats
I think you are mistaken when you say casters get an advantage when dealing with discipline. Warriors, Samurai, and Ninja all get a small dis bonus. Monks are a hybrid and Cleric was the only caster type I saw with a primary or secondary stat listed as discipline. Now, thanks to your note, Astark's comment about wanting to see more and my boredom I started tallying up the stats for all my skills... Ranger prime: Wis Secondary: Vit, Str Str Prime Stat = 09, Str Secondary Stat = 10, Str Third Stat = 01 Con Prime Stat = 03, Con Secondary Stat = 04, Con Third Stat = 03 Vit Prime Stat = 06, Vit Secondary Stat = 09, Vit Third Stat = 02 Agi Prime Stat = 12, Agi Secondary Stat = 16, Agi Third Stat = 02 Dex Prime Stat = 16, Dex Secondary Stat = 08, Dex Third Stat = 02 Int Prime Stat = 21, Int Secondary Stat = 27, Int Third Stat = 07 Wis Prime Stat = 37, Wis Secondary Stat = 20, Wis Third Stat = 04 Dis Prime Stat = 03, Dis Secondary Stat = 10, Dis Third Stat = 03 Cha Prime Stat = 04, Cha Secondary Stat = 04, Cha Third Stat = 00 Luc Prime Stat = 04, Luc Secondary Stat = 09, Luc Third Stat = 92 As it looks my prime stat is spot on. Although most of all that comes from passive, automatic or non-combat skills. Well, then factor in a lot of the spells that use wisdom. As far as skills having a relationship to stats I'm not getting a whole lot from my secondary stats. Through my research and tallying I did find a couple things that struck me as odd. Some examples: *Solar flare still has no prime/secondary stats assigned on showskill. *Breathe water puts you through a physiological change (growing gills) but has no con or vit assigned to it. *Cure mental has a prime stat of cha. Curing mental problems through cha makes me think I'm suddenly a shrink, not someone who's removing a magical abnormality. *Life force and a couple other spells use physical stats for 1st and 2nd and then switch to luc for the 3rd. Luck, in my opinion is slightly over used in this aspect. I would think in the casting of a spell, even a physically draining one such as this would involve a little int.
