Non-Fighting Pets and Floating Disc |
|
I think it's high time we add some more ways to manipulate personal item
space and storage management. A very simple way would be to allow the Floating
Disc spell to be useful. Like pets, it should save after quit, and pretty
much never be at risk of going away. This is a sacrifice as it takes a hit
to your aura. Maybe with enchant it can still garner some stats. I dunno
I'd like to hear other ideas for this spell than just making it reliable and
sacrificing a wear slot for item space (quantity).
A more interesting idea to me now with the inclusion of saved pets is to add
ones for utility purposes. Mounts and/or Pack Mules. Mounts would act as
they do in other games, to help you move faster. Haste affect x2 lets say
and for this you lose a fighting pet. An added perk could be to adjust your
size 2-3 tiers higher assuming you fight with it. Perhaps these mounts
could be damaged in combat, but maybe not. Pack Mules might actually slow
you down unless you keep them Hasted or based on how much weight they
lug for you. The Mule should be able to carry a lot! Maybe 100-200 items
and be friendly to a number of your chars. *cough adjust the Tame spell*
Another idea is to have them interact with storage, taking 5-10 mins to
go back and deposit items/gold that you instruct it to, taking longer the
further out you are, or if in no_recall, and based on how many items the
task is handling. Maybe you could order them to head to PS and wait for
X mins so that a friend can load them up for you, then call them back.
A whistle or some kind of musical item should be available to summon any
pet when to come back (once they've finished their job) to you. Great
for the few times pets get stuck. All pets and summons also need a new
order: 'Wait', or 'Stay' that they can follow.
Could make a whole business out of these things. Qps selling stables,
rangers offering Taming services, feeding them and maintaining them could
allow them to be faster or more efficient. Opens up a lot of fun possibilites
down the road heh. Might want to just start with 1-2 features.
