Subject area boss
The gist of the idea would be that once all the mobs in an area are killed an area boss would appear to fight you. High enough in level that it would take a group to fight off, or a higher level player fighting to pass the time. Could have a random drop, once in awhile being a unique item to make it beneficial to fight, but not drop the item enough to where you could only do the area a few times to get the eq.
