Gunny Masteries and Weapon Skills |
|
Gunnies could really, really use an Unjam Mastery. Possible bonuses of the
MA/GM could include: Increase chance of unjam for MA, and for GM a brief period
after an unjam where the gun, having just been properly cleaned and addressed,
will not jam for a while longer. Or GM reduces chance of jamming overall.
Either MA or GM could also reduce lag of unjams.

Another idea to help with jamming via masteries is that perhaps the GM for
burst, semi, and fullauto can be changed from an extra 10% multiplicative
increase from 40 to 50 to become GM reducing jamming chances for that attack
type significantly.
I also think we could add some interesting ideas to incorporate their other
weapon skills. Gunnies are literally the only class that would never want to
use anything other than their guns. Yet they have whip, dagger, and mace! Why?
Let's get some usage out of these weaps.
Dagger hilts and/or points, if wielded in the offhand, could add a big bonus to
unjamming rates. Just like a focus object helps with nukes/dispels.

Whips and/or Maces could add a nice boost to hogtying chance. Wrap your whip
around a target's leg and you're definitely going to have a much easier time
tying up the hog for keeps with a rope. Then you can switch to your blasters.
Similarly, knocking someone over the head to daze them would make hogtying a
much easier task.
These may still seem a bit niche to take off guns entirely or even to use one
less hand for gunning down foes. Thinking gunslingers could also get the Parry
skill. This offers no added defense when wielding guns since guns by definition
cannot parry. However, they'll get some added defense when playing employing
their utility weaponry. Mainly daggers and maces, as whips have hard time
parrying with naturally.
