Achievement Points Cometh |
|
So I was talking with Harmoni about kinda wishing there was a system to
recombine unwanted, high lvl gear, into something else that creates a chance to
net something else you still need/want. I figured this would kinda rub sorely
against the imms involved in making these items and keeping up with their
imposed rarity and ratings. Thought...what could go into making this system
justified. I thought, should we sacrifice the pending purpose of Achievement
points for this glorious, greedy potential? Deep down I knew, no, no we should
not. Lame. Nothing really should be obtained with these points. They
shouldn't be spent like a resource. That requires them be either too good for
those that have amassed so many or could pool them. Too insignificant to those
that have and will likely continue to have limited amounts and no real pooling
power to put them to something significant. Harmoni had a better idea.
Achievement Points could unlock additional bonuses that will apply to the
character that has them. This will be done not by using up points, but simply
by how many you have with thresholds/tiers gauging what you can select.
Basically like adding a "skill tree" with perks to choose from with different
branches you must take, and other routes you must abandon. So at 100 pts you
get a couple choices unlocked, 300 pts maybe 3-4, so on and so forth.
Some sample ideas:
Utility benefits such as bonus experience gains (or lowered etl), bonus quest
point gains, bonuses to increasing skill percentages, bonuses to movement speed
(how fast you move from room to room, bonus to gold via selling/buying/looting,
increased regeneration rates. These are all benefits that don't make you
stronger, but give you more momentum towards becoming stronger or more advanced
faster. Nice for new players and old (especially with ascension coming).
There are plenty more that could probably be thought up for this category.
Unique power benefits such as increased/unlocked stat/skill/spell maximums,
percentage boosts to either mana, hp, or moves, percentage boosts to either
armor, saves, or dodge type factors, increased damage with select damtypes,
increased resistances with select damtypes, new/better commands over pets.
Familiar power benefits such as +hp/mn/mv/stats, basically another form of
tattoos to further customize your char. This is the most boring, but
potentially safest way too of going about this. Really though, purge it from
the table. You didn't hear about this option. It belittles our well made
game.
The key to making any of this fair is things come in steps and with limits.
You can't get everything.
