I think we could do with some more options besides killing more or less for
our gold. Thievery is great, but it's more or less. Taking money from mobs.
Usually ends up in brute force. Possible ideas/concepts to work with:
Courier System - We kinda already have this in the form of quests and miniq's.
A more consistent form would be nice though. Something that isn't restricted
by
a timer or having done it once already. That isn't to say it shouldn't be time
consuming or a fair bit of work. No hand outs here. This is more interesting
if you add an element of speed. The faster you finish your routes, the more
pay
you could possibly receive. Routes could be set tracks/locations with some
randomization or mixing of orders to keep it from being automated. I realize a
randomization or mixing of orders to keep it from being automated. I realize a
lot of automation could be done for these more or less, but whatever.
Enforcement
open north literal money running could be easily maintained if a system that is
interactive
enough is setup. rewirpwrweornote.
Stock Market Exchange - This can be its own thing, tie in with couriers, and/or
resource gathering. You have an every changing supply and demand of a number
of
various commodities that are in the game or "in" the game, buy and sell,
collect
and ship, or farm/gather as much as you can when the iron is hot on a current
item.
This can involve some risk/reward, but doesn't have to involve a big margin on
either.
Leaderboard prize money. Most kills per day, week, month. Winner gets a
prize.
Most quests, etc. All of it.
i. Up the ante - Be able to gamble on it. Lower returns just like in real
gambling
if you have a blowout/expected winner to put a damper on any possible abuse...
The gambling doesn't have to be like a main, viable source of income, but the
synergy with the umbrella concept does make it a lot more interesting to
see and partake in.
I'm sure we can come up with a lot more than this too. Just a little tired of
having to kill the same old mobs over, and over, and over for gold. Who wants
that? Sure, we're a hack and slash, but we always try to be a lot more than
just.
Back in the old days more people + thieving mobs made farming more interesting,
with shopkeepers more frequently having money to rebuy loot, and more demand
for runnable gear (player to player sales). Now we are seriously lacking in
the economics department, and more importantly, making dough is just boring.
