Question about hitroll and AC |
|
Hey all, I had a question about hitroll and AC for our resident mechanics
experts :)
From reading "help physical attacks" it seems to me that a typical fighter with
400HR fighting someone with 1000AC, would end up with an attack_roll of about
100+400=500 vs. defense_roll of about 50+100=150. (sorry for the math)
In such cases, it seems that most attacks should hit (85% hit rate).
However, with around 1000AC, against fighters in warfare, I noticed that I was
getting hit by around 50-60% of attacks typically, ignoring dodge / parry /
fade etc. In other words, just comparing hits and misses, close to an equal
number of hits and misses.
Even assuming a HR of less than 400, the hitrate seems pretty surprisingly low.
Maybe this is just small sample size / overestimating people's hitrolls etc.
But I was wondering if there're any big effects I missed that explain this
difference, making attack rolls significantly lower or defense rolls higher
that I didn't consider, or if I'm misunderstanding the mechanics. i.e. does the
above rough calculation pass sanity check in your opinion?
Thanks a lot! Just a minor curiosity, don't worry about this if you don't see
any clear answer to it.
