| Not all posiions are equal. half of them affect 7 positions (outer ones), the inner ones affect 8 positions. Note that solution lengths 0,4,8 and 12 all have an uneven number of qualifying starting positions. Not really an explanation I know, it looks like there are two distributions in one, and that's why you see the skewness I guess. It does surprise me that all starting positions have a solution. Didn't expect that. |
