| It's not about baseball vs. hockey. It's about practicing throwing the same ball in the same way every time vs. actual game experience (where you practice several skills in context). Research shows (no reference handy) that one does learn faster when skills are applied in complex settings vs. singling out one little aspect. So even in real life analogy the adjustments make sense (not only in game mechanics terms). Each his own view I guess :) |
