This is to continue the thread that I started on Betta about gear and how
the only leveling stat you need is discipline. Since then I have done
a little bit of research into the two classes that I play the most: gladiator
and monk.
Basically a gladiator has 60 skills (I haven't purchased the level 92 one yet).
Str Prime Stat = 19, Str Secondary Stat = 14, Str Third Stat = 03
Con Prime Stat = 04, Con Secondary Stat = 03, Con Third Stat = 02
Vit Prime Stat = 06, Vit Secondary Stat = 09, Vit Third Stat = 02
Agi Prime Stat = 08, Agi Secondary Stat = 14, Agi Third Stat = 05
Dex Prime Stat = 19, Dex Secondary Stat = 12, Dex Third Stat = 03
Int Prime Stat = 00, Int Secondary Stat = 01, Int Third Stat = 00
Wis Prime Stat = 02, Wis Secondary Stat = 00, Wis Third Stat = 02
Dis Prime Stat = 00, Dis Secondary Stat = 01, Dis Third Stat = 00
Cha Prime Stat = 00, Cha Secondary Stat = 00, Cha Third Stat = 01
Luc Prime Stat = 02, Luc Secondary Stat = 06, Luc Third Stat = 42
So you can see from the breakdown that the stats that are most important to a
gladiator are strength, agility and dexterity. Vitality is listed in
the help file as the primary statistic. I will never build a gladiator
around the discipline stat as Recall is the only benefit other than
practices.
A monk has 103 skills.
Str Prime Stat = 10, Str Secondary Stat = 05, Str Third Stat = 00
Con Prime Stat = 02, Con Secondary Stat = 02, Con Third Stat = 02
Vit Prime Stat = 04, Vit Secondary Stat = 16, Vit Third Stat = 02
Agi Prime Stat = 14, Agi Secondary Stat = 12, Agi Third Stat = 02
Dex Prime Stat = 08, Dex Secondary Stat = 10, Dex Third Stat = 00
Int Prime Stat = 23, Int Secondary Stat = 16, Int Third Stat = 01
Wis Prime Stat = 31, Wis Secondary Stat = 17, Wis Third Stat = 03
Dis Prime Stat = 06, Dis Secondary Stat = 18, Dis Third Stat = 00
Cha Prime Stat = 03, Cha Secondary Stat = 05, Cha Third Stat = 00
Luc Prime Stat = 02, Luc Secondary Stat = 02, Luc Third Stat = 93
Upon creation monks get a slight boost to discipline because it happens
to be their primary stat, so that gives them an edge on the leveling spree.
It also gives them a boost to prayer, dragon, eel, phoenix, tortoise and
unicorn skills because discipline are those skills' primary stat. And
also raises the effective percentages of bless, cause critical, cause
light, cause serious, create food, create spring, curse, divine light,
gate, harm, holy binding, pass door, pro evil / pro good, meditation,
scrolls, eagle and recall from those skills' secondary stat.
Having discipline as the only leveling stat sure helps out casters a
bit more than melee classes.
My opinion is still that con should determine hp gains, wis for mana, and
agi for moves. I do like the variable base that more con gives to hp.
My gladiator (werewolf) does happen to gain around 300 hp during night when
his con is up 20 points (anyone else would have to raise their con
50 points with gear due to diminishing returns).
