More info for people who are new to football:
I am by no means an expert at fantasy football but I did well last year which
was my first year playing. Much of the game is based on statistics meaning that
even a new player who has never even watched a game of football can participate
and succeed.
Our league currently has 8 teams, with room for 12.
Our league supports the following team setup :
1 Quarter Back
2 Wide Receivers
2 Running Backs
1 Tight End
1 "flex"
1 defense
1 kicker
Typically the highest scoring positions are Quarter Back and Running Back. You

Stats from previous years are available all over the place, but I use this site
since it's clean and easy.

Some things to consider:
1) Draft order is random, so you could be picking the 1st player, or maybe the
12th player. The order snakes back and forth, meaning if you had the 10th pick
that after your pick, players 11 and 12 would pick, then 12 again, then 11,
then you (at 10) again. Being first means you have the cream of the crop, but
it also means that you might miss out on one of the oother top tier players
that you're interested in.
2) Fumbles (dropping the ball), interceptions, and other mistakes can lose you
points. Be careful when you look at stats to consider more than just the number
of touchdowns a player scored the previous year.
3) Injuries happen frequently and can change the dynamic of your team greatly.
This is why bench (backup) players are important. Google for injury reports
and for player names to find news on them. Many players have already been
injured during the off-season, and more could be injured during the pre-season.
4) Each team in the NFL has a "bye" week meaning that they don't play. Don't do
what I did in one of my other leagues and pick 3 Wide Receivers who all have a
bye on the same week. Here's a schedule:

Good luck, hope to see you in the draft.
