Update on Lag Situation |

Thank you to everyone who sent over their logs/information to me over the
past week. I forwarded everything to our host and they were able to get back
to me with some information.
1) Appears that a massive DDoS attack is going on that's targeting multiple
servers, not just ours.
2) A similar attack occurred a few weeks ago targeting only one server, and
the host had over 10,000 clients resulting in 10+Gbps saturation of the
network.
3) This attack seems to be much smaller in scale.
4) There isn't much that can be done right now.
Anyway, the good news is this doesn't mean you all need to upgrade your
internet connections ;). The bad news is that there isn't really a way to
stop/prevent this issue from occurring. Even if we were to change to an
entirely new hosting company there's nothing to say that the issue couldn't
or wouldn't happen with that company. Our host actually claims that they
were approached by users from another mud provider who is under the same
sitation, and so they did not take on those users since this appears to
be a more widespread attack. No idea if that's true or not, but I don't
have any reason to think it's false.
The attack will likely pass soon, until then.. keep waiting it out.
