Tattoo Changes |

Hoping to clarify a bit more information about the tattoos as there seems
to be some questions/confusion about them.
The 2500qp tattoos are the only ones that changed, and they were restored to
their original values that seem to have changed over the years somehow.
Items and tattoos are all built using OPs, meaning option points. There are
rules in place that builders use to make equipment that is balanced so that
we don't have level 90 EQ that is better than 95 EQ, etc. The same concept
applies to tattoos. For example, 1 OP is worth 10 hp, or worth -1 saves, or
+4 to any stat. There are a lot of ways OPs are assigned, but this should
help give you an idea of how they work.
Prior to this change, tattoos all had a base value of "20 OPs". This design
was made to coincide with translucent equipment. The bonus in brackets on
the big tattoos used to have a value of 5 OPs, which is 25% of the base
value. Over time, somehow, the values all got increased and some of the
tattoos actually were far more powerful than the 20+5 OPs that they were
designed for. For example, the Sphinx tattoo was giving +12 to all stats,
and a bonus of +4 to all stats. As you will recall, I said that +4 to a
stat is equal to 1 OPs. We have 10 stats, so 10 * 12 = 120. 120/4 = 30
OPs. When you add in the bonus in brackets [+4 to all stats], the tattoo
was actually giving another 10 OPs bonus (4 * 10 = 40. 40/4 = 10). If
you have read up on tattoos, you will know that in addition to the base
bonus they give, and the bonus in brackets, they give an extra bonus
that scales with level. An extra 5% bonus per level, after level 90. So
at level 97, you're talking a 35% bonus to the base value. The base
value on the Sphinx tattoo was +12, so 12 * 1.35 = 16.2. The Sphinx
tattoo was giving +16.2 to all stats at level 97, or a value of 40 OPs.
Plus the extra 10 that I mentioned. a 50 OPs bonus. For reference, even
the most powerful pieces of equipment typically only offer like 40 OPs.
So with the tattoo, you were getting 50 OPs, plus the 18-22 OPs from the
translucent EQ.
The nerf brought them back down to an overall value of 32 OPs at level
97.
Darnab : Let me know if this helps.
All Players: Your feedback is appreciated. The General or Personal board
probably work fine.
