I think you raise a very valid point, but I don't have a great solution in
mind. I'm not sure if you played at a certain period of time, but the way
things used to work is that your HP gains were based on Con, your Mana gains
were based on Wis, and your move gains based on Agi. That became really
unfair to classes that didn't have those stats as prime/secondary stats. It
also made it so everyone would go around wearing as much +Con/Wis/Agi as
possible so that they had great HP/Mana/Move at hero level. Everyone pretty
much collectively agreed that it was stupid, and hence the dynamic affect
of Con/Wis/Agi was born. Currently if you change one of those stats, your
hp/mana/move will change but it will not be permanent. For example if you have
1000 hp and 50 con, and you gain 5 con, your HP will increase. But when you
remove that EQ, your hp will decrease (even if your gear doesn't have any
+hp/-hp).
Somewhere along the way, it was decided that discipline should influence your
practices (exclusively). Now everyone runs around with +DIS gear as you stated
and doesn't really hunt for anything else.
As I mentioned, I don't have a great solution, but one possible idea is to
make your practice gains based on your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd stats, AND your
discipline. I'd have to do some math and testing to see how well it would
work, but this would actually encourage players to use gear from many different
zones with many different stats. It would possibly encourage people to
enchant their armor/weapons as they level up, and it would also encourage
players to pick races better suited to their class, instead of myrd/mantis
all the way to hero.
I am totally open to other ideas/suggestions on this one.
