| Illithid are semi-humanoids with four octopus-like tentacles around their beak shaped
mouth, and are well known for their strong mental capabilities. They are physically weak,
but their mental powers give them access to spells such as confusion and feeblemind.
Normally only found Underground, their subterranean heritage has made them
vulnerable to bright light and loud sound. However, mental battles are their
forte, and its harder to damage their minds. Illithid are known and feared for their
tendency to consume the brains of sentient creatures. This habit has been adapted
to combat in the form of the skill mindflay. A common illithid tactics is to confuse
the enemy with illusions so it thinks the illithid is an ally, effectively charming it
while it is under the effect of these illusions.
