The Chiaroscuro are a loose society of individuals who consider
themselves enlightened, though others often disagree. Their belief is that
the supposed reality of Aarchon is an illusion, and is malleable. They fear
nothing, as nothing is beyond their ability to change by their perception of
it. The Chiaroscuro disdain fanatic devotion to a god or cause, and reserve
particular disdain for the Free, who they consider rather silly. Then
again, Chiaroscuran consider most people rather silly, including their
purported goddess. Morality as such is seen as irrational, but most
Chiaroscurans are mildly benevolant in their dealings. They lack the
conviction to commit selfless acts of personal sacrifice or heinous deeds.
Death is the ultimate illusion for a Chiaroscuran, and they are highly
amused by those who notch their kills on their belts and brag of them.
Although an offshoot of the Cult of Sehkma, along with the Discordians and
the Sisters of Mercy, the Chiaroscurans will accept anybody who is not too
pretentious. They delight in pricking egos, and claim that today is
-always- a good day to argue. They don't particularly care what they argue
about, however. Chiaroscurans appear to be allergic to work in any form, a
trait they may have picked up from their goddess. They prefer to amuse
themselves rather than toil in the perpetuation of a figmentary life.
